The Greater Naples AAUW Charitable Foundation, Inc. (“Foundation”) is a small 501(c)(3) public charity founded in 2001 by members of the AAUW Greater Naples Branch (“Branch”). Managed entirely by a dedicated, uncompensated Board of Directors, the Foundation operates with no employees and is deeply rooted in the community. Both the Foundation and the Branch are proud affiliates of AAUW.
Our Mission
We promote equity, education, and opportunities for local women and girls—by providing scholarships for post-secondary education and supporting impactful community service programs led by the Branch.
Scholarships for Local Women
For over 20 years, the Foundation has awarded annual academic scholarships to help local women pursue higher education. In 2024 and 2025 alone, we awarded 32 scholarships of $2,000 each.
STEAM Girls Count
We support the Branch’s annual STEAM Girls Count Program that demonstrably inspires 5th-grade girls to explore science, technology, engineering, and math—and to see the arts as an essential part of STEM.
In 2025, 298 girls were served. In 2026, its 29th year, the program aims to reach 300 girls.
Janet Martin Welch Reading is Fun!
We also fund the Branch’s Janet Martin Welch Reading is Fun! program, which provides librarian-selected books to children at two local Title I elementary schools. In 2025 alone, 1,140 books were distributed to 810 children.
AAUW StartSmart Workshops
Through AAUW StartSmart salary negotiation workshops at Florida Gulf Coast University, our support helps women build skills to advocate for fair pay and better career opportunities.
Southwest Florida Women Giving Together Giving Circle
Our Southwest Florida Women Giving Together Giving Circle is open to all women who want to make a collective impact. Along with supporting our core programs, the Giving Circle has funded shelter nights and medical care at The Shelter for Abused Women and Children, furthering the Foundation’s commitment to the community.
